Cleary, B. (1983). Dear
Mr. Henshaw. New York: W. Morrow. Leigh Boots suffered the consequences of his parent's
divorce. Leigh struggled with the absence of his father, but found refuge in a
class assignment that changed his life and gave him an opportunity to develop a
friendship with his favorite author. Cleary does a phenomenal job by providing
both Leigh Botts and Mr. Henshaw's point of views using letters and journal
entries. This is an excellent book for upper elementary or middle school
students that might be going through a separation, divorce, or are experiencing
loss.
